Terms and Conditions for Teachers/ Tutors

1) Agreement

The information in these Terms and Conditions is based on the verbal agreement between you and the Agency. If there is any discrepancy, please call us immediately.

2) Confidentiality

The information you supply to us is completely confidential.

3). Agency's Commission

a]. Our Agency's commission charged on tutors are based on the following calculations:

One (1) lesson/week - 50% of the agency's commission is based on the first 4 lessons' fees.
Two (2) lessons/week - 50% of the agency's commission is based on the first 8 lessons' fees.
Three (3) lessons/week - 50% of the agency's commission is based on the first 12 lessons' fees.
Four (4) lessons/week - 50% of the agency's commission is based on the first 16 lessons' fee
b]. In the subsequent lessons, you will get the full amount of the tuition fee.
c]. For any trial lessons conducted by the tutor, 50% of the agency's commission applies.
d]. Agency may negotiate lower commissions for very short-term tuition assignment (between 2 weeks to 8 weeks). 
e]. However, tutors have no authority to change the commissions or tuition fees in any way without the knowledge of the Agency in the first month. 
f]. All tutors and tutoring persons are no authority to collect the first 3 weeks tutoring fee from the parents or guardian (either for 1 lesson per week or for 2 lessons per week and so on).
g]. If any unforeseen situation and is within the 1st 4 weeks, the tutor will be paid the pro-rated tuition fees based on the number of lessons conducted. It is a 50% of the pro-rated fees to Tutor and 50% of the pro-rated fees to the Agency. This is fair for both tutor and agency. 

Note: For music instructors or teachers, it has its Standard Practice in Singapore.
However, all music instructors/ or teachers collect four (4) lessons fees during the first lesson. It is a Standard Practice in Singapore. Each instructor / or teacher will then transfer 50% of the fee to home-tuitiontutor.com This is Agency's commission.

4) Payment of Commission

Prior to confirmation of tuition assignment, the payment of the first 2 weeks of lessons to home-tuitiontutor.com This is the Agency's commission.
If you require a Bill Collector to collect the Fees, you have to pay an Additional Fee of $30 for transportation and manpower.
Payment can be made by
(a) ATM Fund Transfers 
(b) Internet Fund Transfers 
(c) Cheque 
(d) Cash Deposit @ ATM machine (POSB or DBS ATM).
(e) Cash pays at POSB or DBS counter.
(f) If you require a Bill Collector to collect the Fees, there is an Additional Fee of $30.

5) Cancellation of Assignment by Tutor

a]. Once the tuition assignment is confirmed (before the first lesson starts), the tutor cannot directly or indirectly cause the cancellation of the assignment or fail to show up.
If that happens, you will be required to compensate our Agency $50 as administrative charges.
b]. If the tutor terminates the assignment within the first month after the first lesson has started, our Agency will retain 50% commission for the number of completed lessons.
Tutor also need to give advance notice at least 3 days before the next lesson to the Parent and the Agency.
Failing to do so, tutor has to pay at least $50 penalty fee and the rest of the tuition fee which is supposed to be rendered to the tutor will be retained till the penalty fee is paid.

6) Cancellation of Assignment by Client

a]. 50% of the Agency's commission still applies if the assignment is cancelled by the client right after the first lesson.
b]. If the client terminates the assignment within the first month, the total fees collected will be split equally between the tutor and our Agency.

7) Record the Time 'in and out'

Keep a Record the time 'in and out' in a booklet for the Tutor to sign. This is to avoid miss calculation. It happened in many cases and end up in disputes.

8) Disputes

home-tuitiontutor.com will not act as an arbitrator and/or mediator for any conflicts or disagreements that arise between the tutor and the parents/students.
We may be able to offer our suggestions and views. We can't make any guarantees to resolve the dispute.

9) Duration of Each Lesson

a]. Most tuition duration is either 1.5 or 2 hours per lesson except for Special Request for 2.5 hours per lesson.
b]. For Pre-school & Dyslexic students, they can take either 1 or 1.5 hour per lesson but all charges and fee base on 1.5 hour for home visit / home tuition only.

Tutor Responsibilities

A
“First Impression Count”. Remember that students and their parents will judge you by your appearance. Be smartly dressed! Remember, a smile is worth a thousand words!
B
Show your highest qualification to the parents during your first lesson. This is to avoid them from making the wrong judgment.
C
Punctuality. Be at least 5 to 8 minutes early. In the past, many tutors were terminated due to punctuality issues.
D
Record the time ‘in & out’ in a booklet for the student to sign. This is to avoid lost of payment due to missed calculation. It happened in many cases and end up in disputes.
E
Always be prepared for each lesson. Keep up with the latest school syllabus.
F
Most parents will prefer Tutors to provide worksheets and model answers for their children.
G
Parents expect regular progress reports. Make a point of spending a few minutes each week to discuss the child’s progress with the parent.
H
If you have to change or re-arrange a lesson, please let the student or parent know well in advance – at least 24 hours ahead if possible. Don’t leave it until the last minute.
I
Do not forsake the student when his / her examinations are drawing near. You need to help the student until the examination is over.

Keep the phone numbers of both parents and student accessible in a booklet or mobile phone.
K
Failure to turn up for the given & accepted assignment.
It is fair for you to inform the Agency immediately; otherwise it is fair for the Agency to bill you of the lost commission, that is, 50% of the four weeks assignment fee.

·         If you are in any way treated unfairly.
·         Be committed to the tuition assignment for at least ONE month. An administration fee of $50 will be imposed if you failed to do so.

If you foresee that you are going to be more than 10 minutes late for lessons then it courteous to let the student or parent know in advance.

If you are going through a topic with the student, and you see that the lesson time is complete, spend a few minutes to finish what you are doing. Don’t finish the lesson abruptly in mid-topic!
O
All tutors are told to have your own personal policy / procedures to avoid miss-understanding with student / parents. For example, last minute cancellation and absent without reason by the student/s.
P
Agreement with home-tuitiontutor.com to contact you (Do-Not-Call - DNC Registry)
All tutors and teachers are hereby has consented and agreed with the Agency's staffs to continue contact you for new assignments. This stated that the registered person in DNC database has agreed in principal.
